National Health Equity Grand Rounds: History of racism in U.S. health care

The AMA’s National Health Equity Grand Rounds is a virtual quarterly series that looks to deepen understanding and shape the national discourse around health inequities and opportunities to improve the health of our nation.

The inaugural event on Feb. 7, 2023, examines the history of racism in U.S. health care. The event takes place from 1-2:30 p.m. Central.

"History of Racism in U.S. Healthcare: Root Causes of Today’s Hierarchy and Systems of Power" highlights the root causes of present-day health inequities by tracing the social, economic, political, geographic and environmental forces that shape opportunity for health in the United States.

The National Health Equity Grand Rounds sessions seek to empower physicians and other health care professionals to dismantle structural racism and intersecting systems of oppression.
